About

Helping Mothers and Babies Survive offers educational resources for healthcare workers and educators — to maintain high-quality care around birth.

The HMBS tools support blended learning —a combination of online learning and hands-on practice in pairs or groups. Traditional learning tools are also available for free download, and you will find links to order printed materials and equipment from Laerdal Global Health.

Course participants, facilitators and implementors can find the resources that are relevant for them, when selecting their role and specific course. These are both for pre-service and in-service education as well as continuous quality improvement. You will find everything you need before, during and after a course.

The HMBS courses address the most common causes of maternal and newborn mortality and morbidity, and they are harmonized with WHO recommendations. Building upon the methods and experience of the Helping Babies Breathe program, The American Academy of Pediatrics together with WHO created the newborn programs. Jhpiego has developed the maternal programs .
